What happens if I don’t have DirectX 8.0?
The game will direct you to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx
where you can download the latest.
Remember, any version of DirectX 8.0 or better will be just fine for the
game.
I am having trouble with the graphics.
There are strange glitches in the graphics. Please help!
We strongly recommend that you update your video drivers (or display
drivers, as some call them) before you play our game. If you are on a desktop, you can go to the
card manufacturer’s web-sites such as: www.nvidia.com,
www.ati.com,
or www.intel.com
and download the latest version of the software for your video card.
You can usually find out what kind of video card you have by going to:
Start Menu > Settings > Control Panels > Display > Settings
If you are a laptop user, you MUST go to your laptop manufacturer for
your display driver updates, for example:
www.hp.com,
www.dell.com,
www.gateway.com,
and www.emachines.com
are good starting points.
Why is my game getting stuck during the loading process?
If you are running a firewall program such as McAfee Personal Firewall,
the game will not be able to play.
Please disable the firewall and allow downloading of files so you can
enjoy our game. Certain corporate
firewalls may also prevent the game from loading.
The bars at the bottom of the menu screens are showing you the download
process working in the background. While
files are coming down, you can navigate around the menus to check out the Options
and more.
If you are on a modem, have patience.
It will take you approximately 45 minutes for all the assets you need to
download so you can start playing.
IMPORTANT:
After the first time playing, your subsequent loading times will be much
shorter since the files will be already cached on your hard drive. A typical modem user will be back in and
playing within 30 seconds on the second launch.
Why does the game run slowly on my machine?
We have made every effort to take your specific video hardware into
consideration but if you are still experiencing slowdowns, you can easily turn
off some of the advanced graphics features within the game to increase game
play performance.
From within the game application, click
Options > Graphics. Turn off features
such as Particle Fading and lower the settings for Particle Detail and Glow
Details until the game performs as you would like.
